Pace of Play, Playing Ready Golf and making sure to Tee it Forward!
By: Sydney Marovitz Golf Staff
With Memorial Day weekend upon us, the traditional start
of the summer golf season is here. Eventually, Mother Nature will provide
better weather and the course will be very busy.
Last year, by putting an emphasis on better communication,
as well as through education and monitoring, we made improvements to PACE of
PLAY. This year, the new middle and forward tee yardages will further help
address golf’s #1 challenge.
Our staff will professionally educate, encourage READY
GOLF and enforce PACE of PLAY. Slow players and groups out of position will be
notified and required to get back on pace and/or into proper position, which is
directly behind the group in front. Our target pace is 2:15.
READY GOLF is strongly encouraged. Information is
available from the course rangers as well as our golf shop staff.
Maintaining a good pace of play starts on the 1st tee.
Playing from the set of tees that suits your ability, leaving your ego in the
bag and making sure to TEE it FORWARD will immediately allow you to get longer
off the tee have more fun!
· The BLUE (back)
tees play to an 18-hole equivalent of 6500 yards. We only recommend playing the
back tees if your handicap index is 13 or less.
· The WHITE
(middle) tees play to an 18-hole equivalent of 6000 yards. This is a good
length for most seniors, players with indexes above 13 and some beginners.
· The RED
(forward) tees 18-hole yardage equivalent is 5000. This is a standard length for
women and many beginners.
We look forward to a great golf season! See you soon!
